VGA

170px-Male_VGA_connectorVGA

VGA (or Video Graphics Array) refers to a type of connection between a device (usually a computer of some sort) or a display (monitor, TV, projector). The connector consists of 15 pins in three rows.

VGA connectors can be used to connect a device such as a laptop computer or a document camera to an A/V system for display on a projector.

The VGA connector is an analog connection, and is gradually being phased out in favor of digital connections, such as HDMI.

Unlike HDMI, a VGA cable does not carry sound along with the picture. You will also need to connect a 1/8″ audio cable into the headphone jack of your computer if you are connecting a laptop to an A/V system and would like the laptop’s sound to come out of the systems speakers.
