Zoom Webinars & Meetings – Key Differences

TCNJ IT has a limited number of Zoom Webinar licenses available to use on an as-needed basis. To request one, please contact the IT Help Desk.

Here are some key differences between a standard Zoom meeting and a Zoom Webinar:

Meeting Webinar
  • High Level of interaction between all participants
  • Primarily 1 or several presenters to large audience
    • Hosts & Panelists are the primary focus
    • Audience interacts with host via Q&A and Polling
    • Attendees can be prevented from chatting with each other
  • Under 300 Participants (Larger meeting license may be available, call the IT Help Desk for details)
  • Under 500 Participants (Larger meeting license may be available, call the IT Help Desk for details)
  • Group Discussion
  • Brainstorming
  • Interactive Training

  • Speeches
  • Lectures
  • Panel Discussions
  • Replicates the feel of a classroom or conference room
  • Replicates the feel of a lecture hall, theater, or auditorium

If you need help deciding what type of event is right for you, or you’re not sure if either of these options fit your needs, the IT Help Desk can help you explore other options that may be available.
